I love love love the way you've written Haymitch here. Just everything about him is so spot on.
And seriously

It’s not affection, no, because he can’t love her - not like he loved everyone else. To do that would be to condemn her to their same fate. This is the only way he knows how to save her.

Gah. It hurts, but it's such a great snapshot of Haymitch's mind that works perfectly.

He is the only one at fault, the only one whose hands welcome this burden.

Although he isn’t unfamiliar with this feeling, it’s the only time he accepts it willingly because she is alive.

Oh my goodness...I was crying by the end of this because you captured Haymitch so perfectly, you captured his whole life and ethos and being. His fear and love and oh it hurts so much but you did such a wonderful job.

You made everything so powerful, so quickly.

Whoa, this was absolutely brilliant! This was such a heartbreaking read because it hurt in all the right places: your Haymitch POV is amazing and spot on. Aaah this was so so good!
