Hi! I started using cloth pads a few months ago and it's been great. But, washing is a pain. I don't have access to a washing machine. I live with my parents and they don't like me washing anything underwear related in the machine (I didn't even mention pads, I just asked if I could wash regular underwear and they looked at me as if I wanted to ( Read more... )

Hi! I have never used a salad spinner, but it looks like a bright idea.
Concerning handwashing, I could recommend prewashing the pads with soap and cold water (not hot - in order to prevent blood coagulation), then leaving them soaked with soap for a couple of hours. It works well for me.

I would say yeah, you could easily use it for agitation with soapy water and then definitely use it to help dry them, and then dry all the way in the sun (near a sunny window if not outside). Just make sure they're 100% dry before you use them again, otherwise they can harbor bacteria. :) Best of luck in your situation!!

I'm a little confused--I didn't realize it was strange/problematic to wash underwear in a washing machine?

I don't find it problematic either. But other people (in this case, my parents) probably find it disgusting and believe such items should be washed apart from clothes. Which makes no sense to me cos my family washes the men's underwear in with the normal laundry too.

Oh and instead of oxiclean, you can use baking soda. It works almost as good as oxiclean!
