When I first started using cloth pads, I used a soak pot with cold water that I rinsed every day, then washed them in the washing machine on hot with Oxy. This worked just fine.

As time went on, I became lazy and didn't have the motivation to rinse the soak pot every day, so I stopped soaking. Now I let used pads dry and keep them in a dry pot until the end of my cycle, when I wash them in the washing machine. As it turns out, this works just fine, too! Since I'm washing with hot water and don't do a pre-soak or rinse with cold, I'm probably getting stains- but I specifically chose black fabric so stains wouldn't show!

My pads have lasted three (I think) years so far and are just as soft and shapely as they were when I first bought them.

I thoroughly rinse mine (aka until the water runs clear) and hang to dry until laundry day ( ... )

My preferred method is soaking. I store all of the used pads and soak when it's about time to do the laundry (about two or three days before laundry time). I soak them in warm water with oxi-clean and some essential oil. I only soak for about two days changing the water by adding nothing to it. Then I throw all of the pads into a mesh/delicates wash bag and wash it with my whites load. The towels help with the cleaning. I sometimes add white vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser in the machine, it helps a lot ( ... )

You honestly will find out what works best for you when you're in the motions of your cycle. You may adapt to the soaking pot. If you prefer showers to baths as some do on moon days, there is always the shower stomp method, as well. Good luck ( ... )
