So I'm a teen who uses cloth. (Anyone else here, lol?) Anyway, we have drug searches in school. I was wondering if a metal dector could pick up the metal snaps on my cloth pads (assuming that I was on my period and had 2-3 in my wetbag.) I think I'm being stupid, but if a police officer was to discover my wetbag I would be mortified.

Well if it helps any, I wore a cloth pad with a metal snap through security at an airport and it didn't beep. I think their sensors are way more sensitive than a schools.

I'm sure you'll be fine.. :)

Oh, and I'm not a teen using cloth. But my 13 year old just started her period last Saturday and she's using cloth.

I don't think it would be a problem, since most metal detectors seem to be set to identify very dense sources of metal (think guns, knives, Tibetan Singing Bowls, etc). :)

I'm not sure, but a lot of sellers are now using matching plastic snaps, which would solve the problem completely. :)

I don't think so. After all, imagine all the metal snaps on people's jackets and jeans. If the metal detectors went off every time, they'd be searching every other person.

You'll be fine. Even airport metal detectors don't pick up small things like that... The last time I was in an airport, the person told me not to worry if I missed a couple coins in my pocket. Indeed, after I got through the detector with no problem, I found 4 coins there.
