One thing I have never been concerned about when coming up with characters is names, especially surnames (I think we have had this conversation before haven't we?). There not important at all to the actual character's personality and the meaning of names only have weight if they play into the actual story. Its the one thing people spend way to much time on that means basically nothing. My name means "white wave" "who resembles God?" "German word for Cook".... it's rather pointless when you and the meanings, but as Jennifer I love my name as the actual name hehe

Yes I beleive we have had this conversation before and I agree that characters names are not connected to their personality directly. But I also subscribe to giving them names with the thought in mind of creating a certain mood when they are introduced. And I know not every person will react to every name the same way (I instinctively dislike all Davids a little bit until they prove they're not like the Davids I have known in the past

I try very hard to keep my personal thoughts about names (and other things when dealing in similar situations) out of my mind when reading a story because I think it takes away from what the author is trying to portray. Although if the author is making a character out to be a villain and I happen to dislike the name as well... xD hehe
