I told Heath, "You should have known we were going to end up giving him a home, but look at the trouble he went to to get it!"
I'm so frustrated and angry with those people down the street, but I guess the upside of their neglect is that I doubt they'll even notice or care that he's missing.
My kitty that was shot in the face is crooked as heck, has no bones on the side of her face yet is doing awesome. She pushes the cat twice her size out of the way to eat his food too after she finishes eating hers. Cats are amazingly resilient creatures. I'm happy you brought him in!
I have a new kitty too, the poor thing had a couple bad abscesses and right now she's all shaved and looks awful, but she's a sweetheart. Now if only she'd get along with my cats.
Awww! That's awesome to hear Maddy is still doing so well -- there's just a whole new level of sick and wrong involved with what happened to her.
I figure Max and Mayoke will have a few rounds of their own, but since Mayoke has already had to adjust to having one new cat in the house, I think she'll handle it a bit better this time than she did when we got Fluffo. If not, I guess I'll just have to hose the house down in Feliway. :P
SQUEEE! I love brown/gray mackerel tabbies. I have one myself. Who is at the moment licking condensation off the window from the inside.
Bless you for giving that kitty a much-needed loving home. I am sure you are correct when you say his previous "owners" had no intention of caring for him. I don't know why people like that even bother having "pets" when they can't even provide a bare minimum of care for them.
Heath commented last night how Max seemed so confused because he's never encountered doors before and couldn't stand being in the bathroom behind one (we had to keep him isolated from the other cats for a while so that he could get accustomed to a few things at a time).
I said, "Well, yeah, he's also never had a warm home before, or a steady supply of food, or a couch to curl up on next to a warm body that loves him."
This cat is going to have a lot of adjusting to do, and I think his leg is only the beginning. :)
I want to shoot people like that in their f*@#ing faces. I get so cranky about people who get animals they don't take care of. I am so glad you kids took him in and took care of him.
My friend meercat has lots of strays in her neighborhood. She actually feeds them, traps them & then gets them fixed through a volunteer agency so that they don't breed more strays. She's pretty amazing.
I find it odd that you have stray dogs, I have never come across that. We get a lot of eejits leaving their dogs up at ski hills and the like, but none running around the neighborhoods.
I find it odd that you have stray dogsYep, it's very annoying and very unfortunate. Our humane society/animal control only has a few officers for a very, very large metropolitan area and, well, if we call animal control and they come pick up the dog
( ... )
Add me to the list of wanting to make those people hurt as much as poor Max has.
He's a lucky little guy and the feline contingent here is sending best wishes, and telling him that tail problems are no biggie (from Cloudy and Pancake). He'll do great.
I'll have to find a little something for him for the next package your direction. :)
*many hugs* With all of the kitties you've fostered and given homes, I'd be happy to give you first swing at the irresponsible, selfish pet owners in my neighborhood.
He's a little bundle of energy -- he was actually still coming off his meds in the video Heath took, so he's even a little more sedate in it than usual. Later last night he was scooting around the house chirping at us and begging us to play with him. He's going to be a big ol' baby, I can just tell. Those people down the street don't know what a wonderful cat they had. Their loss!
Oh, I bet he'll be an utter joy. Etsy has some awesome toys that look like sushi rolls. ;)
How are Mayoke and Flufftard dealing with him, or is he quarantined until he's healed up?
Andy's decided he wants a Sphynx, but I'm 1) vaguely freaked out by the E.T.ness, 2) preferring to wait until we have a real house, and 3) preferring to adopt a shelter purr instead of a purebred.

Here's to Max's long and pampered life with you!!

A "Me Too" here. I work in horse and cat rescue. I long lost track of how many people I want left outdoors naked with no food or water.
