You know, I've been thinking of getting a table at the Con. And if they have the art show - I'm certainly putting together a few special pieces. I will have to work like heck to get ready.
and come up with an outfit!!

there's another shot on the flickr site.
they are very beautiful - a bit yellow green and a bit blue depending on the light.

You make such beautiful stuff.

PS. My mom just bought the dragonfly necklace for me for my birthday. I love it, and I finally have one of your pieces! ^_^

How strong are the wings? It's quite lovely and beautifully complicated. :)

The wings are quite strong - I had to drill holes in them for the piece. Another poster mentioned they are about as strong as fingernails.

Of course, the first thing that I did was start testing them. I put some pressure on them to see if they would break under "regular pressure" = nope. I'm sure they would eventually ... heh. I could cut them with scissors and they wouldn't shatter.

The site I have my information from says that they can be pierced with a sharp needle if you steam them for 10 minutes first.

I'm lucky - i have a wonderful loan of a Fordem drill set from my dad. There is a "perfect" drill spot - naturally in the wings that doesn't have the green shine - which is easy to drill through. For this piece though I had to drill 2 sets of holes - which for me was a bit easier.

hmmm steamed insect wings
yummy!
