His father was talking about something or other. He would usually be paying attention, yet there were times when he did get lost in his thoughts, today was one of those days. He was lost in his thoughts looking to Aoko on the other side of the room sleeping in the bed, even if he was as tired as her, Hakuba was fully awake and couldn't sleep at all ( Read more... )

Hakuba nodded distractedly, not really looking at her until the voice changed. The blonde detective turned to face the woman and raised an eyebrow. He winced slightly after that. His forehead was bruised under the bandages and the small facial movement.

"I would love that."

Hakuba looked at the door, impressed by the trick. That was neat. The blonde detective avoided his..her..the nurse's gaze, looking uncomfortable.

"well I would tell you that I shielded her when one of the walls of the building fell, but I doubt that his boyfriend would like the image of me on top of her, even if I had a reason."

[Hakuba blinked in confusion..his brother? maybe it was Kid again...he hope that at least it wasn't Vermouth, but he doubted that she was going to try to do anything again that soon.]

Ehm..ok, thanks.

How nice from you, bro. But you could at least wrapped it up.

[Hakuba took the pillow, stuffing it under his broken arm and smiled at him.]

I thought that you hated hospitals.

Hakuba could hear the unstoppable storm that was his girlfriend before he already saw her. Even the guards looked scared.

Hakuba smiled and tried to pick her up with his sane arm. "You don't need to do that love, you will hurt your knees. I'm fine, just a bit bruised."

"It was just a wal.." He started, but then realized that that was a bad thing to tell her. "Because I'm the son of one of the most important polices of Japan, that's why."

Hakuba looked at her, a sad expression on his face. "No."

Zechs really hated hospitals, but he also didn't shy away from the things he detested. He also was feeling, perhaps irrationally, incredibly guilty. After all, hadn't he sworn to find and assist his friend? And then, in the end, he had managed to do exactly nothing.

He was wearing the cold facade of a soldier as he walked up to Hakuba's room. With calm authority, he ordered the policemen standing guard to ask Hakuba if he'd like Zechs Marquise to visit. Considering his commanding presence, they almost complied without question.

When they asked who he was, Zechs claimed he was a cousin. For whatever reason, this appeared to have worked. Yet then again, he had no idea the president of ShinRa tried a similar ruse earlier.

A guard poked his head into Hakuba's room. "There's your cousin, Zechs Marquise, here to visit you?"

"Let him inside, please." Hakuba smiled at the guard, looking innocent. He was amused of the amount of new familiar that he has suddenly, and also touched by their actions.

"I'm glad to see you again, Zechs. I really do." Hakuba said to the taller men when he entered the room.

Several things crossed Zechs' mind at once when he saw Hakuba. First of all was that irrational guilt. He wanted to know how badly injured the boy really was. He wanted to know what happened. On a tactical level, he wished to learn if the Organization would target the Detective again.

He tried to keep his face calm, but some of the tension could probably be seen if one looked very closely.

"I am glad to see you alive, Detec- ... Saguru," Zechs answered, bowing his head politely.

Sitting down in a chair beside the bed, Zechs made a conscious decision not to clench his hands. His curiosity got the better of him. "... What happened?"

Hakuba learned to read Zechs enough -maybe not much, but enough- not knwo when he was tense and controlling himself. It made him feel even more guilty, a lot of people get dragged into this mess and got hurt, and Doyle already informed him a bout his friends trying to help.

The boy give him and apologetic smiled and moved his plastered arm a bit. "I call it bad timming..doctors call it breaking my arm when a wall fell over me and I was shielding Aoko-chan."

Much as she disliked hospitals, Alize had to mention that they were one of the easiest places to get around -- there was always a guarantee that there would be accommodations for wheelchairs. Hakuba's dad had already instructed the hospital that Alize was to be allowed in to see the detective, so it was a simple matter to get up to the room where Hakuba and Aoko were being kept.

The energetic singer was uncharacteristically subdued as she wheeled into the sterile white room. A small part of it was due to the lingering effects of the knockout gas that Kid had hit her with -- she swore she was going to kill the thief next time she saw him -- but the rest was the result of the aftereffects of guilt and fear. She hadn't really been able to do anything to help in the end, and the terror that had gripped her when she'd awoken from the gas, not sure what had happened and who was still alive, wasn't anything she ever wanted to feel again ( ... )

"I'm sorry if we worried you, Alizé." A huge smile grew on his face at the sight of the girl. He opened his mouth to say somethign for but he wasn't sure what, so he studied her for a moment. "Are you ok?"

"You'd better be," she retorted, although without any real heat. "I'm fine. I'm just going to shoot Kid next time I see him."

Hakuba frowned at her answer. "What he did?"

He was going to kill the thief if he tried something funny with her.
