Let the Crazy Begin - Planning for Toronto

Yesterday afternoon the full film list for Toronto was posted, and I've been pretty much freaked out ever since. I can't believe it's August already, nevermind that TIFF is two weeks away!. I'm panicking, waay behind in my obsessing preplanning already...last night I downloaded that monster list and dumped it into a spreadsheet, but without keeping up on the press releases I'm woefully clueless about must-sees and can't-misses - I have a heady weekend of research and listmaking ahead of me.

My best filmfest buddies aren't going this year, so I'm bummed about that - I'm hoping maybe though that might free up time to meet DS and other 6degrees type folks in the Toronto area, or who are going to the fest. At least my group is staying in the same place we did last year, so I know my way around.

Big new screening location in Eaton Centre, that'll be fun - glad for the new screens, bummed that it means the closing of the College Park box office. I had the best luck there, and it was more convenient.

Oh and this year I'm going to Roy Thomson hall for the very first time, to see the opening film, Paul Gross' PASSCHENDAELE (although the trailer has me worried that it won't be terribly good) - and I have to buy the ticket for that because my pass isn't applicable towards Thomson screenings. Or films at the Elgin - which means I'll be swapping extra coupons for drinks at some point, woohoo!

So yeah, so big name Canadian films to be seen, so that's very good. One thing that's cool this year is this site which collects all the trailers and teasers of films to be shown (click on the Trailer Park link) - so there's more to research besides blurbs when deciding on a film schedule.

I'm babbling now - anybody in Toronto from September 3 to September 12, give me a holler! I'd love to see you, and/or see a film with you!
