Warnings: umm.. none really, if there is any spoilers what so ever, someone tell me, but there shouldn't be
Summary: Renji didn't seem to worry about the small things
Abarai Renji was just one of those guys who didn't seem to worry about the small things in a relationship. He's the kind of guy that charges into one without any fore thought or planning, and just keeps going. That wasn't really a problem for most people, but most people were not in a relationship with the guy. The only person who seemed to care about the problem was Ichigo, and right he should.
When Renji first told the substitute shinigami that he loved him, Ichigo panicked and ran the other way as fast as he could. The second time, Ichigo challenged the red head to a duel. The third time, however, Ichigo gave up running from him and gave up into the truth. He let the shinigami vice captain hang off him. He let him walk beside him or lean on him in public. He even let him tell other people "Hey, yeah, this guy is mine!" What Ichigo didn't let Renji do was him.
"Why not?" was always the questioned asked. It seemed obvious to Ichigo that the orange haired teen was so shocked every time he heard the question. "Firstly, we are MEN Renji. MEN do not fuck other MEN!" The red head would always come back with "But you let me love you and hold you, and we were men then. Why such a change of heart?" Ichigo wouldn't say 'Because I am not gay!' That wasn't true. Ichigo just didn't know what he was at the moment. He would then respond with "What about age Renji? You're like... how old? 50? 100? And you're dead! I will not sleep with a dead man!" The shinigami would usually laugh and ask "If I was alive, would you sleep with me then?"
He didn't seem to care about age. Every time it was brought into question, the red head would say "Shinigami don't age well. I look about my mid twenties at least, and I am hoping to freaking LOOK that old for a good long while. Jeez, feel sorry for the guy that dies old and stays old. I'm lucky to have died young and to stay looking young." It irked Ichigo that "Young" was always the replacement for "age". He didn't even know the man's real age. He could be 53 going on 60, and he's still look 24. Ichigo would say "I'm not even 20 yet! I'm not even legal!" But Renji would laugh and pat the teen on the back. "You can defeat almost all of Soul Society, you can take down hollows and Espada, but you worry about being LEGAL? You're too old fashioned. You were always legal in my books."
When Ichigo DID finally let the man seduce him into bed, Renji had then decided to tell Ichigo one final though on shinigami relationships that had seemed to have skipped his mind before. "Ya know, Ichigo. Shinigami's mate for life, right? You are always bitchin' about age, but what you never worry about is how long we are gunna last."
Whoever said Renji didn't worry about the little stuff was wrong. He just didn't care. He had a one tract mind that ran on "Love, sex, food, sleep and fighting" that would keep running till he died. And hopefully, he'd keep running with Ichigo at his side. Because really, it wasn't like the orange top had any choice. Renji had claimed him for life.
