My uncle's birthday was recently, and my cousins and I (six and eleven years old, I think) made him a cake. We asked my aunt what we should put on it, and she said "a Blackberry." So somewhere out there there are pictures of a cake I made with a Blackberry on it.
If your mom needs instructions, I bet I could scan my uncle's on.

1. Be careful to avoid the prickly vines. Ouch.
2. Don't pick blackberries immediately before you need to do something where you'll want to look nice. Your hands will get messy, and so will your mouth (because you can't pick blackberries without eating some).
3. Take a container to bring some home. Inevitably, you'll be done eating blackberries but know that you'll want some later - say, to put on ice cream. You'll be glad for the container when you don't have to choose between not taking berries home and messing up your favorite shirt to make an impromptu bowl.
