Pete as chaperone - I never saw that coming! I can see Jonathan accepting it as a compromise though.

Thank you! Pete is definitely not a fan of Lex, but I can see Clark trying to get out from under his father's stare and Chloe flat out refused. She'll come by to witness their date for posterity, but she's not going to be responsible for them if they manage to sneak away. (Plus, Jonathon insisted it wasn't fair, since Lex holds authority over her father.)

Thank you! There are a lot of options with a prompt like this, but I just had this great visual of Clark sitting awkwardly opposite Lex and wanting to die almost as much as he wanted to reach across and hold hands with Lex but every time he even leaned forward, Jonathon would cough rather obviously. (Obviously that's not the direction this took, but that awkwardness was where I started).

Oh wow. I can totally see this happening in my mind's eye, with the way you've written it, and you found a way for Pete to be in-character for this, too! :) Very fun!

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it and that Pete felt in character.

I almost went with Jonathon chaperone them but figured he would make them sit at opposite ends of the table and not even allow hand holding... at least for the first three years.

Haha, I'd feel sorry for Clark, but the idea that Pete would be chaperoning them is just too funny.

^___^ I'd feel a little sorry, because Pete's probably going to have his own fun with the situation, at least initially. But he's probably going to be an easier sell in the long run that Jonathon, because it's going to be obvious after a time that Lex is going to jump through any hoop put before him.
