BWAAAAAAHhahahhaahaha. I remember being so very angry about the Wall and the people stuck behind it and would just agonize over the ones who tried to escape and stuff. When that wall came down, omg. It was so amazing, so incredible. I cried.
I was 22. :)
Your 'stuck in a tv show' meme thing is already in the 'fan reaction' or 'fan work' part of the episodes's Wiki post. :)
When the Berlin wall came down I was THREE and did not know what Germany was.
I was 9 and spending the night at Stephanie E.......'s house. We were playing in her room and her mom called us downstairs to show us the newspaper and tell us how "one day you will be able to tell your grandchildren about this"
We both just looked at her, like, "You called us away from playing Breyers to show us this???"
(NOTE: I understand this probably sounds heartless. Like, "Freedom from government oppression, yaddayadda - let me back at the modal horses!" Did I mention I was 9? and completely horse-crazy?
Also, Stephanie was the only girl I knew who owned more than one Breyer [those suckers were EXPENSIVE!] - and she had an entire HERD! Benefit of being an only child, I suppose.)
I was 10 years old, so I have a vague memory of it coming down. I think I was watching it on TV. Then everyone started selling the bricks. "Buy a piece of the Berlin Wall". Yes, apparently capitalism came quick to the East Germans. I wonder who was really selling those things and if they were from the Berlin Wall at all. For all anybody knows they could have come from some guy in New Jersey's back yard. Probably the same guy who sells Moon rocks.
