Mostly that New Earth is wonderful and so are the two books you listed. I actually have signed copies of both I love the author so much. :D
And being a theater person myself I too have experienced the "Scottish Play" curse.
And I'm going to check out Invincible because although I love comics it takes someone saying something to get me into new things. Odd.
(Also up for reading Chyan or Doctor Who/Torchwood related by you. :D )

As for Invincible, I can't recommend it enough. After the 7th(?) issue, the artist changes, but it took me a little while to notice and I think the new one's even better. It's got all kinds of these cliches that I would totally normally make fun of, but I absolutely adore it. Seriously, I am addicted, scary-like.
And yeah, I started work on the DW/TW one. It's going slowly, but I'm actually liking it so far. Hopefully, I'll actually have enough written that I can post it in the next few days.
