Hee, I love your icon.

Btw, you mentioned something about GoDaddy.com over on the site--I vaguely remember hearing something kind of scammy/negative about them. Let me ask everyone here if they have a suggestion--I want to say it was Dreamwidth that everyone liked?

That'd be great, thanks! I would like at least 5-10 GB of disk space and at least 150 or more GB of bandwidth a month. With no weird caps they don't tell you about!

Maybe it's dreamhost? I think dreamwidth is a LJ equivalent?

Thanks!

Dreamhost! Yes! I don't know if it's actually good, but that's the one I was trying to think of.

I'll take a look at that one too, thanks! Go Daddy seems pretty cheap - just curious if it is too good to be true. Plus dreamhost offers "unlimited" services, and I've just learned that's a total like. 2.3 GB is hardly unlimited. Grr. ;-)

I use Dreamhost and I love them. Every so often they will do a "test this for us and get unlimited everything for life!" promo, so my accounts are unlimited because of that.

I second the Dreamhost rec. I've been with them for a few years now and never had any problems. You can restrict your bandwidth manually yourself if the traffic should be higher than expected, so you won't have to pay additional fees etc. Not that I'd ever used that feature with the insane amount of space and bandwidth they throw after their customers.

I've had a few hosts (Surpass, A Small Orange, Dreamhost) and DH's interface, support, prices and overall awesomeness is unbeatable IMO.

Ok, thanks for the info!

I own my own domains because I had a bad experience once myself.

You've got some good recommendations already -- I'll just add LiquidWeb to the list to consider. I have a website business and they're the hosting company I use. They're really terrific, have a nice tier of options, and their tech support is unbeatable ( ... )

Thanks - I'll look into it!

Thanks for the info on GoDaddy. I own my own domains because I had trouble with a transfer once myself, so I keep them registered completely separately from my webhost.

Disk space, actually! Which is kind of ridiculous considering they advertise "unlimited"!

Lunarpages is the host I've been using for something like 7 years. They have different plan options, and are incredibly upfront about what is included in the plans. I've always have incredibly fast, courteous responses to all questions I've asked-- their customer service is GREAT. I have their basic option, and have photo galleries, one-click install of several different blogging platforms, forums, a shopping cart, etc.
