They do. I mean, Cleo's got 1,266 followers on Twitter, and Goddess only knows how many on LJ. That's a lot of people who can be influenced to choose USPS or FedEx over UPS if she has a bad experience, esp. if you then factor in all the people they'll tell about it. So it's good business sense.
Plus, in all honesty, all of my experiences with UPS have been good ones.
FedEx, on the other hand...
