A gloomy day

Feb 27, 2009 21:16

Filthy, nasty, stormy weather today. In yet more evidence that I am wholly solar-powered, I did nothing but curl up in the recliner and watch episodes of A Haunting on the Discovery Channel (the one about Dartford Cemetery was particularly good, if cheesy) and shudder at the mere thought of being a productive member of society ( Read more... )

Condon is an unfortunate last name. Attaching Eddie Murphey to anything is even more unfortunate.

It occurs to me that Robert Pattinson seems to sort of have regained a bit of the will to live. Not much, mind you, but a little. It makes me happy for him.

they're taking away scans_daily?! Do they realize how much shit people have bought because of that site? That's the only reason I have the first volume of The Order, or Maus, or Ex Machina, or Young Avengers, or practically any comics at all. scans_daily was how I vetted a character, or an artist, or a writer or a series or pretty much any comics purchase ever. It was a great way to expose webcomics, too. We were careful; there was always less than half a comic book up, if that, and we gave all credit to the artists and writers and urged everyone to buy anything particularly good. It was GREAT and now it's GONE.

LJ stole scans_daily. That's scans every day.

And that's TERRIBLE.

Yeah, SD is pretty much entirely how I got into Alan Moore.

I've been informed by someone on my f-list that those us who bought stuff after seeing it on scans_daily are in the minority and that it was all dirt piracy.

I bought all the TBPs of Ex Machina because I saw it on scans_daily. I've bough so much stuff, stuff that wasn't on my radar before scans_daily. DAMN THIS

Oh. Oh, I am so excited for the Damn Yankees remake. I haven't seen the film, but I saw it performed locally (Washington DC) and I adored it. And I've been craving hearing Jim Carrey actually sing.

Ohhhh so excited. And I must know who will play Lola.

Oh, jeez, I really wish they'd stay the hell away from remaking Arthur. For fuck's sake, that's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I really don't want Russell Brand anywhere goddamn NEAR it.

Now, you might make me reconsider if it were Robert Downey Jr. Granted, he's already played an amusing billionaire destined to tip headfirst into alcoholism, but he's already played an amusing billionaire destined to tip headfirst into alcoholism.

Of course, it's still a big "might," and that's mostly because regardless of the fact that I've seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall and am vaguely familiar with his work in Britain, all I can think about is when Amy Winehouse was on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, spent the entire episode patting her fake hair and asking for more liquor, and when the host made a joke that her new thing was crack, her sarcastic response of "Do I look like Russell Brand?" was greeted with enthusiastic agreement by everyone, including her own drunk ass.

Er, yes. NO TOUCH MOVIE. Hmph.

That was a classic Buzzcocks episode. Much like the Barrowman episode. Russell Brand annoys the heck out of me. The sooner he disappears the better.
