But so is the infinite bitchfight that would erupt even if they tried to come up with, say, a personality quiz that would select your wand for you, let alone if they just issued you one.
Of course, there'll be two million Holly-and-Phoenix-Feather wands. Still, path of least resistance here.
Yeah--I was born in December, so I'm kind of attached to holly, and I like the wood's qualities, and it's a "fire" wood, so I tried to choose a fire core, and I went with phoenix, and then it was like... oh, shit.
I still really like the idea of almond/unicorn, but I just feel too drawn to holly. (SRS BSNS.)
I ended up going with Willow for water/air (plus it's my favourite kind of wood) and Dragon Heartstring for air/fire (as I love dragons). Since Air is my primary force but water and fire are my secondary ones. Also, I went with willow because the wand I have IRL is a replica of Ron's Willow wand that I got a few years ago. ;-)
Kylie = LOVE. SO much love. *adds some of her music that is already on the compy to my tinsy mp3 player*
I saw in the comments of your last MyLeaky post that a House test might possibly be in the works-perhaps I'll hold off on joining until then. (Because said forum sounds AWESOME . . . even though I really don't need yet *another* procrastination tool.)
Ooh, wand stuff! I'll have to check those sites out for my wand (incidentally, the wand chapter was one of my favourite parts of DH)-my RPG character's wand is rosewood with a unicorn core.
Imaginary wands: srs bsns.
TRUFAX. ::nods sagely::
ETA: Hmm, the wand wood guide you linked doesn't even *have* rosewood. Curious . . .
I don't know how long it'll take them to come up with a house test, but I suspect it'll be sooner than later, yeah. I think you can go ahead and join without choosing a house, though. You just have to make sure you don't choose one on your profile.
As for the rosewood, that's why I included the Alivan's page. They have a couple:
"Rosewood is well known for its powers in matters of the heart as well as for its medicinal qualities. This makes it the perfect wand for love charms and healing. It is also well suited for use in divination."
I mean, really, you can write in anything you want, so it doesn't matter who says what about it. I just figured it'd be helpful for people to have an overview of *some* choices and what they mean.
Ooh, you don't have to choose right away? I may have to sign up . . .
This might also be helpful in wand wood choosing (Celtic tree astrology, I think). I'm at the very end of the Cedar birthday range, which doesn't fit me well at all, but the next one-Pine-is pretty much spot on.
