New Awesomeness Initiative unresolution: Be less neurotic. I almost think I'm so neurotic (example: being too squeamish to check my own email for an important reply) because I'm accustomed to being neurotic. Like, because I'm used to it, this is a behavioral baseline in my mind. And, well--you know the saying "Fake it till you make it." I'm just ( Read more... )

It's amazing how quickly LJ has become known as the home of the HP pedofic.

If only they knew what else LJ was home to. If only they knew.

Have him run through the woods without a shirt on for a few frames. You might change your mind. >3

I don't know, it may be too late for me--I may have imprinted on Team Sparkle Motion for good.

Wow, the 'trailer park' of online communities. I kind of want to put that on an icon and be - well - trashy apparently.

I'm going to take this moment to simply say that Taylor Kitsch is extremely studly.

I get squeamish if I know there's likely to be drama in my inbox. Sometimes I won't even read those comments or messages. :-)

On another topic, that scathing indictment of LJ made me really mad. I was hoping you'd talk about your feelings on it, actually -though maybe they are obvious?

Heh, not really obvious--I was sort of amused and puzzled, because I can't figure out what LJ ever did to them. That said, the whole Strikethrough thing was so embarrassing. (What VW doesn't mention, though, is that several SUPPORT GROUPS were targeted as well as some actually "interested" in incest. They also don't mention that it's not a "free lunch" for people paying for accounts.) It just killed me that it turned into the whole "fanatical Harry Potter erotica writers" thing, as they put it, because 1) the fanficcers sure as hell did not have copyright law on their side in the first place, and 2) no one in the mainstream, no one, is going to take your side when you're fighting for your right to post Harry Potter porn, so stop trying to get the media/blogosphere on your side. All it makes them do is WANT to see you get booted, and now everyone looks crazy.

Yeah, the whole HP thing had a really negative effect from the outside. But to essentially indict all of fandom (never mind all of LJ) as being a bunch of freaks - that seems so extreme. LJ has so many different communities and groupings of people.

And you're right about the last LJ problem - that there were support groups for things like rape and incest that were affected since "interest" was weirdly defined. I had forgotten about that!!
