Am I just never productive on a Monday?

Deeply weird: I was thinking about The Fountain, and when I got back to my desk half an hour later, "Death Is the Road to Awe," my favorite piece from the soundtrack, was cued up on my music player. I'm not saying it came up in a shuffle; I'm saying it was the only song on the playlist. When I'd left my desk, the only song on it had been the new ( Read more... )

This was a linkspam of epic proportions, and for that I thank you.

Hey, you doing NaNo this year?

I'm trying to finish my existing novel by the end of the year, so... as such, no.

Understandable. A month of additional sleep-deprived, manic existance that means living on mainly caffeine and bread crumbs is probably not so much in the cards.

Yeah, I'm torn between dread and utter excitement for the month of November. Any useful tips? *cries excitedly*

Outline early and often. And don't be afraid to write scenes out of order.

She dropped her daughter?!? If I were in her position I would hold on as long as I could and never let go.

I know!! She then said she had to pry her daughter's tiny fingers from her coat!

"Sorry, honey, but Mommy's survival is much more important. Someday, if you survive, you'll get through this. Of course, it'll be with thousands of dollars in therapy and a lifetime of regrets and an intense, raw, searing, yet repressed, hatred of your mother. So, uh, peace out!"

I'm not a parent and thus possibly unqualified to comment, but I do have some sympathy for her: it sounded like the alternative was both of them falling, and it seems to me that it'd be harder to catch mother and child together without either of them sustaining injuries than just a toddler. =/

Yeah, I'm with you there. The article quoted her as saying that she couldn't hold on to her any longer, and couldn't get herself or her daughter back on the ride, so she trusted the crowd to catch the toddler.

But then, blaming your mother for therapy is the new 'OH SNAP' for armchair parents around the internet.

"It was fun. There was no backdoor meaning. We just wanted to twirl."

I like those girls. Also, "I just wanted to twirl" is my new go-to excuse for everything.

I just want Del Toro to get through all these other projects and make At the Mountains of Madness, already.

Seriously, "I just wanted to twirl" is one of the best things ever.

I love the "backdoor meaning," though. Honey, it's about girls kissing girls. I don't think it HAS to have a sekrit hidden meaning.

Brandon Routh still exists??

I thought he was gobbled up by the Hollywood hype machine, never to be seen again.

I know, man. I was similarly shocked to find out a few months ago that Gretchen Mol is still working, too.

THERE CAN NEVER BE TOO MANY ZOMBIES.

Sorry. Momentary zombie insanity. It happens occasionally.
