I think I'm going to agree with the article and be not pleased with the idea of Ken Branagh being in charge of Thor. He's one of those weird actor/directors who has somehow maintained a good reputation in spite of a really crappy resume that is actually far stronger at its beginning than at its more recent end.

Russell Crowe as Robin Hood/Sheriff of Nottingham reminds me of some asshole kid who takes over a game of make-believe: "Nobody else is doing it right! I'm gonna be Wolverine AND Magneto!"
