So Rinna says that the podcast will go up tonight at poufwaexchange.com, a panfandom spinoff of PotterFicWeekly (or on iTunes, where you'll need to look for Episode 7. The title may end up being "It's Like X-Rated NPR"), at 9pm EDT. It's a two-hour conversation in which Rinna, Lady Chi and I discuss Harry Potter, Twilight, the Lexicon case, fandom ( Read more... )

We were talking about how Ginny is [I think?] the first person that Harry lays eyes on at Platform 9-3/4 in the first book, and I blurted out, "Maybe he imprinted on her."

Oh god, my laughter was so loud, I woke up my roommate from her nap. So GOOD.

(Okay, maybe it wasn't the best thing.)

Oh, it TOTALLY is.
Genius.

You definitely need to watch Dr. Who. It's just this side of awesome.
I still have yet to finish Firefly...the first episode was SOOO SLOW.

Ugh.

Get through the first Disc and you will be HOOKED, no lie...

The first Disc is pretty much backstory and character developememnt... but I have never met a person who did like it!

That first episode is one of my favourites!

Let's see, you've got Wash and the dinosaurs - Mal messing with Simon ("The man's psychotic!") - and the wonderful discovery of River which gets me every time.

The Train Job covers a lot of the same ground, but not in the same way. And much quicker. And it's not as good.

Cleolinda, may I just say how much I'm looking forwards to your comments on Firefly? Yess!

(Doctor Who is likewise great, but by the end of the fourth season the deus ex machina factor had been cranked up to 10. It's got some great, great stuff in it (character-wise especially), but there are times when you just have to turn off your brain, because the plot? Does not use Earth logic.)(That said, Stephen Moffat rules and so does The Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, and most of S1.)

I love that scene with Mal and Simon...

Its all slow motion then cuts to them laughing hysterically... I always laugh at that part.

(I really do have the DVDs for both Firefly and two seasons of Doctor Who, and I really am going to watch them.)

Under normal circumstances, my first response to this news would be to tell you to watch the Doctor Who episode about Madame de Pompadour, because for a show that looks like it has a $5/episode budget, it has some amazing costume porn. But as I am currently researching an 1891 book about her that is entirely in French, the last thing I want you to do is watch that episode and then write about it.

I'm very, very excited for the podcast, btdubs.
