The writer of that Twilight article more or less summed it up for me; hot vampire books stopped interesting me after I turned fifteen. But besides the whole distilled teen girl fantasy, the whole misogynist undertone of the books worries me, because a lot of the younger readers seem to want to emulate it.

I think moviegoers have more invested in the actors than Cumming thinks. I remember an IMDB post made by some woman complaining about Nathan Lane coming out of the closet because "now [she] couldn't fantasize about him." and quite a few of the other posters agreed with her.
