I had some small, very clean plastic trash cans from college that I was using as storage units, and I was trying to get to the big box holding my computer software, and this trash can was on top. I mean, it was sitting four feet from me, on top of something. It's been there for I don't even know how long, and I've torn up my room looking for them. And there they are.
No! That's what I was looking for, the install CDs, and the photos were sitting right on top of them! And it took literally three seconds to reinstall! AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!
I know! And I have a brand-new scanner that I bought two years ago and haven't even used yet! I wanted Wolf Photo to put them on a CD for me, but I didn't think to ask until they handed me the printed photos. Oops. But now I can scan them in and punch the contrast up a bit in FotoCanvas and put them online!
Cuba? That's exciting. How was the trip to Cuba? Me and some friends were thinking of going somewhere South, and right now it's between Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
Where are you from? Because I'm pretty sure Americans can't go to Cuba anymore, Michael Moore aside. We had to get a special permit to go, and that was in January 2001. It was a school trip--God, it was so awesome. First time I'd ever even been on a plane. We made a killing in the open-air markets--I bought all this jewelry at $1 a piece, because American dollars were worth far more than their literal value. I'm not even sure if they allow you to pay in dollars anymore, though--I seem to remember Castro trying to crack down on that a couple of years ago.
We're up in Canada, much more Cuban friendly. According to the online converter, Cuban moneys worth like $0.90 to the CAN dollar now.... Ya, most places won't take American money any more, according to the internet fact sheet I found. I do like the cheapness. I want to pick Cuba, but I'm a little scared of it. Plus we're staying at an all-inclusive, and I've heard the food can taste... off, because of limited access to spices or something.....
