Okay, so I was having a pretty good day--beautiful weather, blueberry muffins, peace and quiet, 4000 words--and then Scout stood up on his hind legs and got lovingly clawy, as he does, but this time he actually cracked my mp3 player (hanging around my neck) open--lengthwise down the casing, so far open that the battery and the volume buttons fell

Because I know you're interested: there are several anti-Golden Compass groups popping up on Facebook--and the largest has over 50,000 members (login required, I think). The creators of the group claim that "it is crucial that we get the word out to warn people to avoid this movie."

The depressing thing is that if as many people who can be rallied to boycott a children's film could be rallied for Project Download, we'd reach the 5 million in 3 months.

OK- I consider myself a Christian, but these boycotts are silly.

Parents! If you actually did your job, and discussed what your children are reading with them, maybe we wouldn't be going through this crap. Did you think that maybe you could strengthen the faith of your children by discussing all sides of an issue, instead of narrow-mindedly cutting them off from an amazing and thought-provoking series? This really ticks me off. And the boycotts aren't even effective- they'll just make kids want to read them more.
