Very much so--I saw it at a preview last Friday. They changed and added several things to create more physical action, but they kept a surprising amount of the spirit and tone of the book, I thought. My understanding is that Gaiman was very involved with the production, so I like to think that he approved all the changes, or possibly even came up with a few himself.
I watched it with friends, family etc last nightmollyblackAugust 11 2007, 20:05:20 UTC
It's not as wonderfully funny as The Princess Bride but it is a very good adaptation and one that I will buy on DVD as soon as the super special edition with all the extras comes out.
It really is good and I would go again to see it. Everybody that we went with enjoyed it too. Even if they had not read the book.
