What about Habitat for Humanity? :P there's a good place :$ Just a suggestion. You don't have to include it in a poll, but could you remind people of it? Cause I'm sure I *think* they're gonna be helping rebuild New Orleans, since they do provide homes for people and all.

Aww, hell. Once you make a poll, you can't edit it. But I'll link to HFH in a future entry, yeah.

Oh. My. God. You've got to be kidding me. Just when you think it can't get any worse. *beats fists against desk in frustration*

Btw, this is Dreagonfli, don't know if you remember me. I've been reading your journal still under this name and laughingspell. Just so you didn't wonder who the hell I was.

Thanks for all these links. I've been reading pretty much all day. I'm just so horrified by all of this. It feels like the world is ending.

Hey!

I'm just so horrified by all of this. It feels like the world is ending.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Somehow I'm in a total state of emotional disconnect at the moment, which is probably for the best. Again: not watching it all on TV helps a lot.

I haven't been watching it on TV much at all. I also need to cut down on blogosphere consumption for my own mental health, because I just keep thinking of that girl who was raped until she was dead.

And it sounds so selfish but I can't keep thinking about all this. I mean, I'll try to stay up-to-date, but it's just so unspeakable.

No, I totally understand. I watched MSNBC obsessively for about a week, maybe two, during 9/11, and then I turned the TV off for a year. I am serious--I watched a little Turner Classic Movies, but that was all. No network TV, no sitcoms, no news, no anything. Your soul just gets burnt out at some point.

Not to sound like a bitch, but after what they did with the 9/11 fund, I wouldn't exactly call the Red Cross "reliable."

I know I heard about that--refresh my memory, what did they do?

http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/11/06/rec.charity.hearing/?related

basically, they raised 100s of millions of dollars, supposedly for the 9/11 victims' families, and redirected the money into a "general fund," which was used for administrative costs, long-term funding, funding other projects, etc. AND, last I knew, some of the people who were supposed to get money from the fund still haven't.
