None of this would have happened if they had evacuated these people. But apparently we just throw away people based on race and class. Good to know the kind of country I live in. Yeah, I always knew it, but now it's clearer than ever.
That's what I keep hoping people will come to grasp--no, the hurricane could not have been prevented. New Orleans probably would have been under 10-20 feet of water no matter what happened. But if the levees had been better funded, they still would have been overwhelmed, but the flooding wouldn't have been so catastrophic and people wouldn't have been trapped in their own houses. If local government had been better prepared, people without transport actually could have been evacuated in a timely, orderly fashion. If more National Guard had been called in a hell of a lot sooner, the city wouldn't have broken out into total anarchy. And so on, and so on. Of course a large part of the disaster itself was inevitable. But starvation, theft, illness, murder and rape didn't have to happen.

I mean, we are their people, yet they take their sweet ass time to helping us.
Then lugging us from dome to dome on school buses?
No. Get every Greyline in the country. If you care so much about these evacuees. show it.

I understand the dire need for shoes, Condi, especially with tax-free-week going on, but couldn't you wait until the national crisis was over?

Yikes. This disaster would be tough for a *good* government to handle, let alone a squad of incompetent, hijacking goons like Dubya and Co.
I hope everyone comes through this okay. The thoughts of the rest of the world are with y'all.
