Hannibal 2x01: "Kaiseki," part two

Mar 07, 2014 11:57

PREVIOUSLY ON: PART ONE OF THE PREMIERE: Everything was terrible and nobody had any boundaries; the episode began with an already-infamous mutual ass-kicking; Hannibal Lecter is the New Will Graham, and the Old Will Graham wants him to step on all the Legos and die. Also: sushi.

Amazingly detailed recap filled with wonderful tidbits of info I'd missed. Oh man, but show brought A+ game to the first episode. I feel like this show is so dense that I need to go and rewatch the season two premiere a third time?

Really love that, as you say, they've set up the explosion, so now we get to see the lead-up. Can't wait to see what follows at the end.

I can't even handle what's happening now, to be honest. This show. Ohmygod.

Man, you think that's a lot, you should see the Storify notes. I haven't split it off into two single-page posts yet, but I used maybe 20% of what's in there.

I seriously don't even know how to handle what just happened tonight, either.

I can only imagine. While I follow a decent amount of people involved in Hannibal because I love behind the scenes stuff, I also don't want my friends to get buried in nothing but Hannibal stuffs? (This may be a lie, I may be the one spamming them). And even then, EVEN THEN, there is just, so much goodness coming at me every day via either twitter or tumblr.

Can't handle tonight. I don't know, what. Can't deal. Also, run, run run run run...#notforeating

I knooooooow. Despite her deflecting all the flirtation, they kind of have married-couple body language a lot of the time--approaching Will like they're his parents, or hanging out in Hannibal's kitchen, or that time she was like, "Jack, this is a bad idea--HANNIBAL?" and he was almost like "Yes, dear?" Like, it's intimate enough to be awful when she finds out, but not so intimate that she'd have the first clue it was coming.

I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL THE "you were already having an affair" LINE WAS ABOUT, WTF WAS THAT. What is going onnnnn with them. (Well, he was her mentor, so I'm guessing it was a professional/scholarly relationship to start.)

AND WE'RE BACK, EVERYONE. \o/ I missed these recaps so much. All these beautiful parallels and inversions and twists on the source material collected in one place!! And loved the breakdown on the different ways triangulation figures into the relationships.

Also:

So I'm getting the feeling that we're going into a storyline where Will is going to manipulate Hannibal (Bedelia WARNED HIM!) just long enough to do whatever he has to do to get out of jail, then turn on him.

YES.

Meanwhile, I have no coherent commentary. I am so afraid. I am so afraid for everyone. Will is my favorite and I absolutely love watching him fight for his agency and deliver searing friendship burns to Hannibal Lecter, but I'm too worried about who's going to get killed along the way to enjoy it much. :< MOSTLY BEVERLY. I AM TERRIFIED FOR BEVERLY. BEVERLY WORKING TO CLEAR WILL'S NAME WAS ALL I EVER WANTED, BUT NOT IF IT GETS HER EATEN, OH GOD. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, BEVERLY ( ... )

Bedelia fascinates me on SO MANY LEVELS. I cannot even begin to start unraveling the connection between her and Hannibal. JUST WHAT IS GOING ON.

Yessssss, I remember that. Wasn't that here in Cleo's recap comments? Well, part of it anyways?

Their relationship is Super Fucked Up. Am trying to twist my brain around enough to imagine just what kind of a hold Hannibal has on Bedelia and am failing.

Or the end of his professional life/career, or something, yeah. Never mind that Abigail is ACTUALLY dead and no one seems to be thinking about her at all. There's set pics of Kacey Rohl, though, so maybe she'll drop by the Fishing Palace later in the season.

Eeee, thanks for explaining that. Did just enough music to know that something about the music was super unsettling to me/irritating. But, words! Describing things!

Everything about this show is meticulously detailed and I could cry with joy.
