I keep thinking a "pannibal" ought to have something to do with bread

Jul 19, 2013 10:00

To begin, Miss Freddie has posted her interview with director/producer David Slade (pictured here with her business card. Nor is he the only one...). She was, in fact, my date to the Pannibal last night, in the sense that we sat on Skype all night on the other side of the country and laughed our asses off. ppyajunebug was actually there, liveblogging under ( Read more... )

my heart grew three sizes, fandom, pallas cats, hannibal, tv, good cleo always helps, om nom nom

I... happen to agree that "love between two people need not be sexual" - I actually wrote a long incoherent post about it just last week. Still think actual sexual relationship between them pre-finale would be... what's the mirror-universe version of "nice"? Not an anthonym, just... an evil version? But, well, that's what fanfiction and fanart are for.

Actually, the only people I've seen on tumblr going "no sex=Not Canon" are anti-shippers.

(Also, there *are* asexual Hannigram shippers on tumblr. Pretty sure they're not heartbroken at all.)

Heh. Yeah, I've actually talked about it a little, too--I think the most I went into it was the time Freddie interviewed me, and I said something about complex but maybe detached ideas of attraction, and a sense of possibility/ambiguity being more interesting than a traditional idea of sexuality for this particular character, given the "fallen angel" thing they talk about. (I've always believed, for example, that Sherlock Holmes isn't a particularly sexual character, and if anything, I'd say he's "logicsexual," if that makes sense, and Watson is his life partner in logic.) So to me, what's really interesting is that there's clearly something there between Will and Hannibal, but it's exactly what we're seeing: something ambiguous and undefined and not even entirely understood. Because that goes with Bryan Fuller's interviews about Hannibal being sort of surprised and curious about his own feelings, and it being a "personal journey of discovery" or whatever. Honestly, I watched Silence of the Lambs again earlier this week for the first ( ... )

I'm so glad you explained about the flower crowns, because I was like... I feel like I should know this, but on the other hand, it feels like it's out of nowhere. I was pretty sure it had come from Hannibal fandom. But it seems to be infecting other shows at SDCC -- the Teen Wolf stars appear to have gotten flower-crowned.

I think that's actually a good thing. I would love to see it just spreading all over SDCC, into every show and movie.

I've actually gotten a definitive answer now: it started with... One Direction?

Well, that makes sense to me, given that everything I know about One Direction, I know from Tumblr anyway...

I usually don't feel a desire to go to fan conventions but this one looks like so much fun, I'm actually feeling pangs of regret.... It seems like a good time was had by all. I'm looking forward to the video coming out ('fraid I couldn't make out the audio on the fan one). What I've heard seems intruguing! I'm looking forward to scrappy squirrel Will in Season two. And the gag reel was amazing. This fandom, and your recaps in particular make me laugh so much, it's awesome.

I feel, like, 25% regret I didn't witness all of this in person, and 75% relief that I'm in a quiet air-conditioned house. Clearly, I am not cut out for this sort of thing.

Hee. I was honestly surprised it was that hard to do, I guess because he made it look so easy on the show itself.

I saw the fan filmed version and it's pretty decent, if you don't mind not understanding a word David Slade mumbles NOT to the microphone.

About your aversion to mushrooms: I never liked mushrooms because of the taste, not its shape, but I can't eat dates because they look like a dried cockroach.

One of my favorite things about the pannibal was seeing Bryan Fuller talk like an excited kid and seeing Hugh smile. But now I've got Will-as-a-squirrel rather than Will-as-a-puppy stuck in my head and now you went and threw in Will-as-a-Pallas cat (which I've never even heard of before) and my Will animal metaphors are all confused.

Will and Hannibal are never ever ever getting back together

Thank God. Seriously people- why would anyone want anyone, let alone Will to get together with Hannibal? Except Alana during S2, for storyline reasons. I really hope fans don't ask Hugh or Mads about it anymore (they can ask Bryan Fuller- he lives for this shit, the troll). Hannibal was the worst towards Will, there's no going back, just getting ( ... )
