So. Emily (foresthouse) came to visit for a few days and we ate our way through the restaurants of Homewood (the new Which Wich was hands down our favorite, although Dave's Pizza was also excellent) (although my favorite Chinese restaurant, the Dragon, CLOSED FOREVER the day after we had lunch there), and then we watched The Hunger Games while she ( Read more... )

Must...not...buy...Tonner...must..save..money...for Wilde Imagination...GAH!

(I notice they seem to have smoothed out Damon Salvatore's srange Buffy-verse vamp!face a little. Good to see!)

I'm so sorry to here about your stepfather. I know what it's like to have a parent's health in a crisis while you're not so great yourself. I've been spending the last year trying to control my anxiety, and then my mother (my greatest support through all this) has started having heart problems. Really scary stuff. I've been making it through by focusing on the fact that, while I would never ever want my mother to be sick if there was any way to help it, shouldering some of her burden of keeping up the house has made me feel truly useful for the first time in years. I'd gotten to a point where I was feeling like a way-too-old leech on the family, and now I feel like I'm helping make it work.

Anyway, you and your family are in my thoughts.

Yeah, I also want the new steampunk Imperium Park doll(s) they came out with--Theodora, I think? And a Lizette from the Ellowyne Wilde line. You know, once that money tree shows up in my backyard.

Yeah, it's times like these where you kind of go, look, this is WHY our situation works for us, so go take your side-eye elsewhere. And good thoughts for your mother, too.

With me it's Evangeline Ghastly. I haven't been interested in her at all until just recently (I wasn't a fan of the creepy skeletal face), but I keep coming back to her WI page to stare at Moon Over Mortuary. Thankfully I keep stopping myself because of the price point, but I don't know how long that'll last.

Definitely. And thank you!

I'm sorry to hear about your step-father.

I'm also sorry that you're finding it necessary to slog through Varney the Vampire.

Heh, I found it to be a lot of fun--writing about it, anyway. I read ahead a little, about halfway through the whole thing (unabridged), and there were a few moments I found fairly entertaining. A few.

This very day I found an audiobook of Varney the Vampire. http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/book/varney-the-vampyre-vol-1-by-t-p-prest

I like to listen to audiobooks while I cook or knit. This should keep me going for a while.

I also meant to tell you that the last SLoD entry was never linked over to the wiki page. Thought you might want to know.

I hope both you and your stepfather feel better soon. I still live at home and have a bunch of family members with health issues so I can commiserate. Things will get better.

My best wishes for you and your family.

>>>People usually give me the side-eye when they realize I don't live on my own

Grr. If they can afford live Independently!!! with no major financial or medical (either physical or mental or both) problems - good for them. But why it's so hard to realise not everyone can?! Living apart from relatives feels great when they are hurtful in some ways, okay. But it shouldn't be mandatory.

Well, it's just--look, you can think whatever you want, but then people actually get on Tumblr and ask me WHY I live with my family. Well, I live with them because it works for us and also none of your business, maybe?

(General "you," obviously.)

Dude, I don't even like Chinese food all that much, so losing the place that made really good Mongolian beef is something of a blow (she said facetiously). If something happens to the chicken fried rice at Surin West, the only place that makes it the way I like, I don't know what I'll do.
