Cleo, I'm pretty sure the reason why RDJ did the intro for The Artist was because he played Charlie Chaplin.

Well, yes, hence the "CHAPLIN!" he started off with. I was including that generally as "silent movies."

CHARLIE :D Charlie needs to be mentioned, and recognized as the God of Hollywood that he is.
Also... Ernst Lubitsch, what a force he was, and hardly anyone ever mentions him anymore. GO RDJ!

Kinda bitter that Fassbender didn't win for Shame, but I knew he was a dark horse in the race.

Yeah, as far as I could tell, whenever the sound cut out on my set it's cuz the show was being censored for someone cursing. I noticed that with Ricky and with Meryl. It cut out when Ricky said something along the lines of not understanding a fuckin' word that either Salma Hayek or and Antonio Banderas were saying. and Meryl cursed about forgetting her glasses before going onstage. As you said in Jean Dujardin's case though, he was miming something quietly as an homage to his film, but until my sister pointed that out, I actually thought the sound had dropped off accidentally there.

I saw Jean Dujardin on "Charlie Rose" this week and he speaks very little English. Thankfully, he was there with Michel Hazanavicius, who speaks better English. :)

I'm gonna have to rent "L'Artiste" when it hits plastic.

You should check out "OSS 117: Cairo, Nest Of Spies", a French spy spoof starring Jean Dujardin. It's hilarious!
