..As does your situation. Mine, I at least have some mitigation. I can take painkillers, control when and what I eat, thereby getting some workarounds. It sounds like you don't get to do that.
Check me on this: I lift a heavy object, then have to quickly make a bathroom visit or suffer an 'accident' and maybe pain and cramps anyway. You lift a heavy object, then fall unconcious, possibly while lifting, thereby incuring injury.
We both have pretty horrible contracts, to use a 'Darker Than Black' anime referance.
BTW: really enjoy your writing.. Is often a bright point in my day.
I'm doing all the mitigations I can - though they come with side effects so I have to be careful with them. (E.g., "Drink lots and lots and lots of water" has the side effect of, I'm in the bathroom as much as you are.)
I haven't had trouble with the heavy-object thing. For one thing, I mostly don't lift heavy objects. For another, I get a little bit of warning, which is enough to put dangerous thing down, usually. Stairs are the most common menace. And there, I have to assume I'll be incapacitated for a minute after going up a flight of stairs - I haven't (yet) had to worry about collapsing and falling down a flight of stairs.
Anyways, I'm glad you enjoy my writing! I'm home sick today, but I got out of bed and posted another bit of Mating Flight, because of your remark!
And of course, after Posting that , the LAN here breaks in amusing and unhelpful ways. Didn't get to read it until now. Sorry to disappear for a week. A windstorm reset one of the routers in this barn of a house, triggering a TCP fight that the wireless routers got caught up in. This caused one of my houdemates to panic call our ISP, who then Reset our modem to 'defalt'. All we've had here has been the WiFi, which I (the one person in the house WithOut WiFi devices) can't use.. Until the person with the admin passwords got some time to deal with it.
