OpenDNS for the Wii

Haven't done anything not Emerson or Antidote in a while, so I decided to do some technical writing:

Instructions for using OpenDNS for the Wii.

A few weeks ago I e-mailed OpenDNS if they wanted instructions on using the service on the Wii. Obviously they wanted some, so I told them I'd get back to them. Finally did it and that's the fruits of my labor. They don't look exactly like the instructions on the website, but the HTML is an easy drop-in for them.

So what is OpenDNS? DNS servers take a URL ( http://www.everythingafter.net/ ) and find the IP address for the site. Your internet service provides this service as it's integral to the internet. However, some ISPs don't update their access as quick as others. Enter OpenDNS. Also, OpenDNS goes a step further and identifies phishing sites and blocks them ( example ). The catch? If you attempt a URL that doesn't exist, it shows a 'domain missing' page and gives you search results with text adds.

Give a try if you want.
