very unique... and it was REALLY good!!

the bone marrow was surprisingly good too! you're supposed to spread it on toasted bread (along with the roasted garlic, mmm!).

I really enjoyed the bone marrow at BDT too. In my opinion, anything with roasted garlic is delish!

no, it was a quick reunion trip with 2 friends, but we were only in DC overnight so no time to meet up with anyone. :(

re: cake love, it's okay, i think i did ask you about it on facebook? i forget. anyway, we went there too but wasn't impressed. on the other hand i LOVED ben's chili bowl. :D

I wasn't wowwed by cake love the first time (or second time) either. Problem is they refrigerate their stuff and you need for it to "warm up" for it to taste good. They say a minute or 2, but I've found you have to leave them at room temp for at least 20 min for it to be just right.

MM got me a bunch of cupcakes for my bday and I did it properly and they actually were pretty good.

Yes, I concur, Ben's is awesome. I live a couple miles north of Ben's.

well, we let it sit for 20 minutes before eating too, but i still found the cake too dense and the frosting was so thin and something was off balance about the flavor - like the wrong proportions of sugar, butter, etc. i guess i'm comparing to magnolia and sprinkles though, which may not be fair lol.

omg ben's chili cheese fries are the BEST.

Mmmmmmm mac & cheese spring rolls!! I think that was the best part, besides the desserts (which are a given).

yes, that was definitely one of the highlights. i also really loved the ravioli, and the pancetta-wrapped pork tenderloin was the most tender pork i've ever had!
