Wyrm, not worm. A wyrm is another word for dragon. Worm actually comes from it.

Yes, birds and wyrms share a common ancestor with the prehistoric colossal beasts. Similar bone structure and such. Many theorize that Wyvyrns are the link between birds and the prehistoric wyrms.
