More awards

Thanks to a tip from the lovely snowpuppies, I just found out that I won several awards at the latest rounds of forbiddenawards , ultimate_xander , and the absence_oflight awards for Off Route 17, Wool Over My Eyes, and The Cross. Although I've accrued five to my name in the last two years, I'm always fucking astonished and delighted when I get an award like this one:

W00t. Yay for the Bangel. Worked my ass off on that. I am noticing a trend though. I can't seem to actually win the het categories. Always runner up! I guess that's an indication that a good character study will always lose out to a more creative plot. Oh well.

Congrats to you, too. Lots of angsty love for Closure over at AoL.

I haven't forgotten about the Spuffy fic. I don't have quite so many obligations this week (last week was insane), so I'll probably be able to work on it today after the gym as long as I'm not utterly exhausted.

I was flipping through a book of mine where I write fic ideas and was reading over some of my scribble. *sigh* Good stuff in there. Just... time? Inclination? My brain is like "Yes, yes. Do fic." My body? "Please be kind to me. You need your sleeeep."

Thanks! I kind of wish AoL had been around since I started writing, because a whole site dedicated to angst is so right up my alley. I suppose people could nom old stuff, but that rarely happens.

Anyway, re: fic, I've been going back over the ones we never went back to after you went to Cancun. I tried revising the Xander coma one - I decided the surprise reveal just didn't work, so I'm writing it so the reader knows it's Xander the whole time, but I'm not sure it's much better.

I don't really know about the writing thing. I've been fiddling lately (mostly out of sheer boredom) but I'm hesitant to declare my hiatus over (or even call it a hiatus rather than an "I quit") until I actually come up with something postable. It's not so much a time issue for me, since I've got so much of that I'm bored - it's more of a creative problem.

Everybody must embrace the angst! And Closure sure is one angsty fic. Shadows would tots win a crapload, too. Next round, I'll so nominate that. I should reread it anyway.

Why so bored? Are there activities you can join for the short-term before you're off to DC? (Will you be seeing Patti?)

You definately won't be bored if you start working out. That shit eats up your time like whoa. Have you thought about a gym? Not only is it good for you, but I get to talk to all my friends and co-workers about their gym experiences, too. It like dog walkers that talk about dogs all the time. Immersive common experience. I only wish there were more outlets for obsessive cat people! Or kiwi bird lovers...

I've found that now that I'm not inundated with school, my personal interests have come back, like my fascination with the natural world, evolution, animal life. It's disturbing how into unusual nature things I am. And how I like to watch random videos on youtube, like ermines vs. squirrels and tarsier eat crickets.

Thanks very much. I even started looking through my notebook of fic ideas today. Awards (and comments, of course) are always motivating.

Thanks. My brain is restless about fic. I think it wants to write some, but feels kinda out of practice and shy. I'm not sure what to do about that. Stop going to work and sit intimately with my computer, probably.

'Tis exciting. It makes me want to write more fic, but I still don't have anymore time than I did, not to mention I feel rusty. When I was in school and had lots of free time to sit around and procrastinate, it was a lot easier...

What to do?

*nods* I suspect I wouldn't have been nearly as prolific had I not had a job that required me to sit still and amuse myself for long stretches of time.
