Ouch and more ouch

Friday morning I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. It was a... mixed experience. Once they had me in the room, they hooked me up to monitors that tracked my vital signs, complete with dings and beeps and the squiggely line machine doo dad that tracks your heart rhythm. They also had to hook me up to an IV, which was difficult. Two ( Read more... )

Thanks. *cuddles* Healing mommy vibes are much needed. I've sort of got a chuckle head Jay Leno look going on, too. Hm.

Eeep! Now I'm really, really glad I have no wisdom teeth - ever. And when I had oral surgery back in the 1960s all I got was a shot of novocaine so your ordeal gave me the shudders.

I think it could have been a good deal worse. Supposedly, days 1 and 2 are the hardest to get through, which means tomorrow things should be looking up!

Thankfully, mom and dad have been very diligent about making sure I'm comfortable and fed. Someone was with me at all times yesterday. It's good to feel loved :)

::pats hand:: [not the sore one.]

Trust you'll feel better soon. The ice is uncomfortable but it does help.

Thanks, honey. Actually, I don't have too many complains about the ice. It's annoying to have to hold it, but way better than the warm compresses. I didn't like those at all. They made my face swell even more!

Love to you and oh my goodness. Yeah you've inflated a bit around the jaw area. Plus, as a vain side note, that is not the most flattering picture ever taken of me. :P

Hope you feel better soon, sweetie!

Yes, yes! In need of love. *clings* I've been all grumpy and ouchy. I think I even look a bit like Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka. Paint my face blue and stick me in a jump suit. I'd be perfect.

Plus, as a vain side note, that is not the most flattering picture ever taken of me.
But... but! It's the totem pole of awesome! *flails*

I remember getting my impacted wisdom teeth out but it was nowhere near the experience you had. I did think I'd be able to drive but nooo! I'm glad Mom was along to get me home!

Getting teeth pulled is never fun. Here's hoping you'll have a swift recovery!

*cringe* I thought my experience was pretty standard. I'm guessing it was a bit worse? Were your pain medications effective?

I did think I'd be able to drive but nooo!
Yeah, one of the stipulations was that someone had to be there to drive you back home. You definately still feel a little woozy afterward. I could just imagine myself careening across the George Washington Bridge had I been the one driving ;)

Here's hoping you'll have a swift recovery!
Thanks! I mostly just want the swelling to go down. It makes my cheeks feel so tight. My jaw muscles have loosened up a little though. That's a relief. I'm having a lot of fun sitting about like a yokel with my mouth hanging open, lol.

Were my pain meds effective? Not really, and here's why: You have to take them before the stuff they gave you at the Dr.s wears off. I waited until I felt pain to take them, and it was too late. I had the good stuff, too (for back in 1983 - Tylenol with codeine).
