At last, a break in the angst! It was mere_ubu’s bday a few days ago, so I thought I’d do something different - fluff, banter, sex and Season 4 Spuffy. Like many souls before me, I’m doing it. I’m tackling Something Blue.

Title: Pre-Nuptial Bliss
Author: ClawofCat
Timing: Season 4, Something Blue

Thanks :D The dirty talk was the most fun part to write, so I'm glad it was received well. I couldn't help but laugh when Spike says, "Always wanted to know why they call 'em blushing brides."

Hot sex with a side a laughing: my favorite! I love how you caught Buffy's spell-induced in-love voice, wistful and a little saccharine, but still essentially Buffy. This is great!

Oh, yay! Laughing was involved. That's good. Good good good.

Yeah, there were some cringe-worthy moments when I was writing her dialogue. She's just so perky and cute. I noticed that the way she talks in earlier seasons is more slangy and Scoobie-ish. I had to watch the entire episode again to hear how she was speaking at that time.

Now I need to go write something uber-depressing stat.

*wipes brow* Phew! I'm thrilled you like it. This stuff is so not my bag. More than the hot, I'm so happy people found it funny. That's the only thing I felt really comfortable writing in this story. When you've got a mouth as dirty as Spike's, it makes things a bit easier.

Hee! Spike mentions it at the end of the ep, so you know it's a conversation they had off-screen. The fact that it came up after a shag in the bathtub sort of makes it icing on the cake.

Oh yeah! Woohoo! This is the stuff! :D

Where to begin. I love the contrast between your last Spuffy fic (Burn Marks) and this one. The fact that these two pieces are so different makes them both shine even more brightly in their brilliance. Also, it's just wonderful to see how you can write stuff that is as if from different planets atmosphere-wise, and still sound unmistakably you. It takes true talent, doing that and being so remarkably excellent nevermind the atmosphere.

There's a lot of talking this time - love it! You write the sharpest dialogue. The character voices are so spot-on I basically had both Spike and Buffy inside of my head saying their lines out loud. ;)

"I like it when you think the thinky thoughts," she purred and yanked the top over her head, throwing it to the tiled floor behind her. This is obviously only one example of all the fantastic lines there, but my god how I love it! It's such a Buffy thing to say spiced up with a touch Something Blue silliness. This totally made it to the top 5 of my favorite Buffy ( ... )

While I'm very flattered by your enthusiasm for this fic, it's hard for me to really view this as brilliant when it feels like anything but. It's not something I would ever write for myself. I had to really push myself to go there and it was a fairly frustrating experience overall. There were so many rewrites that went into this, I'm just glad it's over.

Good. That's why I tend to take requests like this. To show I can. Trying to write outside the box is important to me and if that means stepping out of my comfort zone for one story, then I do it. I remember also struggling a great deal with "Drive It Home," which I wrote for dreamsofspike's birthday last year. Dom!Buffy and Sub!Spike plus torture are not things I ever write, but I went there for her and I'm very proud of that story. I guess they can't all be our personal favorites ( ... )

It's the strangest thing, this writing gig. There was a time I was absolutely certain that writing was my calling, so to speak. I got a scholarship because of my writing skills, I interned in a newspaper and had my first novel on it's way. Then my life turned upside down and - well, that's another story but I haven't really written since (except for the three frantic months two years ago when I finished the mentioned novel just so that it'd stop weighing me down). But back then, when I was still writing, it was never easy for me. In fact it was like squeezing blood out of a stone even at its best. But people wouldn't believe it because the text my sweat and tears produced was so fluent. For some reason I was never able make them understand that the biggest pain of them all was making the text flow like that. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that my hat goes off for you - it must've taken a lot to write this fic and make it seem as if it was the most natural, hands down thing to do ( ... )

Can I just say we write, like, the longest comments to each other ever, lol? I'm scrolling down this post and when you get to the end, it's like "Bam!" Major reply. Internet pen pals. Sure saves on postage ;)

*happy sigh* We just learn something new about each other everyday, huh? You did did newspapers, too? There's totally a little squee inside me just for you. Now I want to see a drabble from you or something! But, uh, no pressure.

As for my enthusiasm, when I mentioned Burn Marks I didn't mean to compare these two fics to each other. I'd never do that.I know. I know. I'm just grouchy about this fic. Don't mind me. Although you might not compare it, I totally do. I look at this and I feel ashamed that I couldn't make it into something I feel really proud of. I hold myself to a certain standard and for me this misses it. It's hard for me ( ... )

Poor Giles, he's never going to bathe again...
or look at Buffy the same way.

Funny, sexy, hot "fans self" - it's got it all. Thanks for that.

Hee, hee! You had that icon on primed and ready to go, didn't you?

Not if he doesn't know about it. He seemed to be none the wiser in the ep, so I think their secret is safe. It'll only be their lip smacking that'll haunt his dreams ;)

Thanks for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Everyone likes a bit of fluff now and again. I have to keep telling myself it won't hurt me, lol.
