But does anyone else find Daniel Radcliffe's performance of Harry, well, rather flat? I know part of it is the process of squashing 300+ pages of tightly packed story roughly two hours of film, and that's obviously a problem that will only get worse with each book-to-film, but he's just doesn't have the acting chops. Actually, I disgree. While I could take him or leave him in TSS, in COS I liked him quite a bit and felt that he was becoming an actor in a way that the other two kids (most notably the girl who plays Hermione) wasn't. Those first scenes with Dobby -- they're smooth, they're funny, and they're the result of the kid playing against a tennis ball on a stick. IMHO, he did better than any of the poor unfortunates who have suffered through the SW prequels, trying to act but basically, clearly, focusing only on thin air. I think Radcliffe has come along nicely, and I'm sort of hyped to see where he'll go from there.

I was just re-watching SS when I wrote that. HBO again. I only saw COS the once and felt a little let down. I'll give it another shot and reconsider.
