Anyone who follows me on tumblr will be totally unsurprised to hear that I'm still completely fangirling out over the movie. Which was an absolutely pleasant surprise, because I went in with no expectations and no real interest in the movie (beyond maybe spiting MRAs). It's just so good! And amazing! and practical effects! and the characters, but ( Read more... )

I've been hearing such good things, both on my flist and in the reviews I've read. I'm very tempted to see it now.

you should! It's totally going to be my next big fannish crush. (That is, I dont necessarily feel the need to write fic about it or anything, because it was almost....to perfect a statement to inspire me to do so, but I will definitely squee about it for ages.)

I had no desire to see it either. So not my cup of tea. Or so I thought. A few hours later, I was just making flail hands at my mother (who I saw it with! My dad was the one who wanted to see it, but then he got caught up in something!) And we both just gushed about it for ages. And I'm still feeling like waving my hands around. It's also, weirdly, a really, really positive movie (for all the death and mayham). I imagine though it'd be right up your alley. For reasons. Not at all to do with an attractive lead who'd give John Crichton a run for his money in the crazy department (although he's quiet, where John was talkative), and who spends the first half hour or so of the movie dragged around in chains as a portable blood supply. He's got very expressive eyes, though. Which I'm sure are none of the reasons I would recommend this movie to my flist ( ... )

Everyone who's been to watch it seems to be coming back with the impression 'this movie was amazing and awesome and it passed the Bechdel test so many times it's not even funny' so, probably going to see it.

Also, the furious MRAs make me cackle.

Furious MRAs was like worth a thousand good reviews. "Huh, if they're this pissed off, it must be great!"
