Hookay. I found a house and I'm moving on sunday. I don't know if my comp and the wiereless in there will be happy together so I might be offline a bit. Hopefully not, but I might be.

Congrats on the new house! Moving can be a bitch, but it usually pays off in the end.

Personally, I could easily see Guy as what you'd call a "service top", i.e. someone who is highly in tune with their bottom's need to submit, catering to it with loving care. It would sort of be him servicing Marian, and she would not have to go from a princess to a doormat. There's a lot of romanticism in that kind of power exchange (not to say that it doesn't exist elsewhere as well). I'd very much like to read that fic, or any fic to come to it ;)

Argh! I know, I hate moving, but luckily a friend of mine has a van and a sat nav.

The whole service top thing is a new thing to me. And it could actually work in this sort of pairing, and I think the romanticism lends itself to this pair quite well. In a way I've been reading Marian more and more as a submissive, just because she seems to go out in her way to seek punishment. Maybe it is just because she is sooo "brave", but I just like reading that undercurrent into her actions.

Hey, good point about Marian. I hadn't thought of it like that but now that you mention it... yeah. And we know from S1 that Guy is more than willing to be the one to teach her discipline ;)

I'd love to read this, and not least because there's so little M/f BDSM fic available in fandom, which I think is because it hits so close to mainstream porn for a lot of folks - it's the damn historical baggages again. Actually, the only fandom I think I've seen it in is (unsurprisingly) HP.

ahhh yes! Actually my firs intro to m/f BDSM fic was buffy fandom and most surprisingly Buffy/Angel, but for me that is not an ideal pairing for this because for me Buffy's character will always be dominant, you cannot escape that.

Yes, Guy's form of discipline would be interesting to see. And I will try to get something on paper. Maybe. Soon.

re your plot bunny: that's very interesting take on the Guy/Marian relationship and I see where you're coming from with it. It's completely fine to make a division between power play (sub/dom relationship) and more straightforward S/M type of thing that's based more on concept of pain - the two aren't automatically linked (and I can say that from a personal experience). If you want any help/betaing or just to chat about this side of things, I'd be happy to do so (except not on an open post...) Looking forward to the fic.

This is good! Because I don't hink I could write it. I'm in no wau intuned with the idea of pain-pleasure, and I can't in general see Guy as wanting to truly hurt Marian, just extend his control over her fully.

I haven't even started laying out the basic plot line yet okay, that's a lie, I have a general outline. So I will have to give it a poke or two. I would really apriciate beta help and chatting. I can give you an email when I'm in a position to actually have something concrete.
