I have always liked Halbarad, somehow, as little as we hear of him in the book. It felt nice to know that Strider had someone of similar ilk looking out for the Shire, maybe someone who had shared an infrequent campfire and bedroll with him. Someone who fought to the end.

Those rugged Rangers of the Dunedain, strong yet gentle, noble yet simple. (You can see what I'm hoping for...)
