Bart kind of fails at helping with cooking, and with cooking, and with even being in the kitchen, because Molly always shoos him out and says she can do it, and it's hard to argue with her, because he just trips over his feet.

But Molly's not feeling good and she needs breakfast, and Bart knows breakfast in bed in nice and romantic and generally good. And if he's going to be a good boyfriend he needs to do nice, romantic, good things, even if he doesn't do them well. Because Kon does those a lot and even if he's crazy and dumb all the time Buffy always says he's a great boyfriend or fiance or husband because sometimes she forgets which one he is.

Bart surveys the kitchen. He has a list of things to make Molly, with helpful illustrations of him not lighting himself on fire.

1. Pancakes
2. Orange juice
3. Flowers
4. Card

It's a lot like Mother's Day, except it's for Molly and she's not a mom yet even if he wants her to be someday. He also has a recipe Buffy wrote with careful instructions for how to make pancakes, so he thinks he's okay.

He gets all the ingredients out in half a second, but breaking the eggs gives him trouble, and he knows there are shells in there. And even though he convinces himself he has plenty of time to pick her flowers before the pancakes burn he still manages to singe them. The card takes more time than he thought it would too, and he's drawing a picture of her bunny hat when he smells the smoke again. They're not ruined, just on the crispy side. He figures the maple syrup will maybe cover it.

The orange juice proves more difficult, because if he does it as fast as he wants to he breaks the oranges and can't squeeze them anymore, but he gets it eventually.

Molly wanders in sleepily as he's making a tray, and he zips in front of her hopefully before she can see.

"You're not supposed to be awake and up! You need to rest and get better," he says softly, pushing her hair behind her ear for her.

"I though' I heard something," she says groggily.

"It was just me, but it's okay, really! Come on..." he scoops her up and puts her back in bed. "I'll be back in just a sec, kay?" He zooms off and comes back with the tray. "Sorry I was loud..."

"You made this?" asks Molly, with some degree on wonder.

"Uh huh, so it's not very good and I burned it a little and I think there's shells in the orange juice and peels in the pancakes or maybe the other way around--"

She squeezes his hand. "Thanks, Bart."

Bart is totally an awesome boyfriend.
