So, when DON'T the Daleks run on static?

They were moving by psychokinetic power in Death to the Daleks, but other than that it's never really addressed. (Though judging by how Donna screwed with the power of every single Dalek in Journey's End it's possible they went back to static in the Time War).

It's been a year since I've seen Journey's End, so I don't remember the specifics of that.

Doctor!Donna flipped some switches on board the Dalek ship designed for people with hands rather than sink plungers that shorted out Davros' lightning hand and made all the Daleks spin round and round, allegedly by disrupting their power. It was a cheap joke about one of the plot holes, essentially.

ANIMOOTED!
WOOT!

...who?
Him. Jamie would of course have him as a personal hero, together with William Wallace.

WAIT. MORE IMPORTANTLY. IS THAT JAMIE JAMMING OUT WITH GIRLS IN MINI-SKIRTS TO "PAPERBACK WRITER."
This scene in the novelization is EXTRA GLORIOUS! It has Jamie trying to get information from a waitress, the girl oh-so-subtly putting a hand on his thigh, and Jamie yelping and running off to the Doctor in an omgdoctorholdmealassiejusttouchedmeewcooties! kind of way. :P
Yes, that's my favourite Doctor Who novelization ever - not just because of that scene but for the way it was written from beginning to end, with all the characters fleshed out and being given depth and backstory. I highly recommend it.

Huh. Since when do Daleks care so much about human weight? She's a valuable hostage, as Waterfield will only obey while they can guarantee she's alive and well. In their distorted, Daleky way, they may see the weight fluctuation as evidence. (It amuses me that Victoria being weighted mirrors perfectly Harry's reaction when he ( ... )

Well, calling it 'animated' is using light terms...

Ah yes, you told me about that. "They're just interested in what's under my kilt!"

Actually, I think "lover's spat" was what I meant to say there. But yes, regardless, it was Serious Business.

DALEK COMPANIONS! I know Eight had a Cyberman companion for a bit in the comics, but a Dalek...that would be very interesting.

Ooh, funky. But also very cool at the same time.

Exactly! I love that scene.

"Lover's spat" is a good way to put it. It breaks my heart every time, but at the same time I can't help but cheer it as they become more like equals in their relationship from this point onwards. Well, having Victoria around also helps, as she becomes the newbie in Jamie's place and he and the Doctor take turns in looking after her.

It would, definitely. And these three would have filled the role perfectly. Besides Kroton the Nice Cyberman, the comics also gave Eight an Ice Warrior as a companion, which is quite an interesting idea as well. See what you think of it when you watch their debut story.

This is one of only two Troughton reconstructions I've heard. Heard, not seen. With narration. Tom Baker narrated Macra Terror; I think Colin might have narrated this one? Been a long time. Plus it's late and my brain is fried.

It was Frazer doing the narration, actually, if you mean the BBC audio reconstructions. He did most of them from Evil onwards (Wheel in Space was actually narrated by Wendy, but the rest of the BBC recons I own have Frazer doing it).
