So Six's evidence is from "the future"? ...He was allowed to look into his own future for this? ...What?
Told you the Christmas Carol structure was still there.

We seem to be continuing a trend of me taking a shine to generally unpopular companions, don't we? (Maybe too soon to say, though.)
It helps that Pip and Jane did a great job with Mel in this one. Not only does she have a wonderful rapport with Six, she's more well-rounded in her introductory story than she is in later TV stories, in almost the same level as audio!Mel.

Six, you just tossed what looks like a large metallic pebble in your mouth. How are all of your teeth not broken now?
To quote Amy Pond, "space teeth"!

Indeed it is. Hopefully the next serial will explain everything...

In other words, Mel's heading for Character Derailment fairly soon?

I'm afraid so. A Who review blog I'm currently following, by coincidence, has also reviewed Trial recently, and has pointed out that Mel already begins showing early signs of Character Derailment in The Ultimate Foe - and after rewatching it, I've found myself agreeing with the reviewer, as some of the lines Robert Holmes gave her suggest that he probably didn't like the character much.

It's been a while since I've seen this one. I'll have to watch it again. I think if Mel didn't scream so much, I wouldn't have minded so much. Screeching hurts my head and ears. This was one of her better stories of course.

Bonnie Langford has lungs and she knows how to use 'em. Actually, I very stupidly missed the opportunity to go see her using her vocal abilities for the forces of good last week (she was in a one-woman musical theater show in NYC).

With those lungs, she can probably sing her ass off.

Now comes the part where I hesitate to explain what exactly the Matrix is/does. (No Keanu jokes.) Or you could just wait until you see Deadly Assassin. Though Ultimate Foe gives some clues.

I *think* Colin's cravats were supposed to be different for what story he was in; Red for past/present, yellow for future. I think. I approve of minor costume variations like that. But I see your point about it.

I don't like Mel, but see my "don't like" is different from many people's at least in the sense that I don't want any companion to die.

I've actually still yet to see The Matrix, so no jokes about that will be forthcoming from me (unless "there is no spoon" somehow works its way in there).

Tasteful articles of clothing on the Sixth Doctor are almost a unicorn level of elusiveness, but that vest from The Two Doctors came pretty close.

(Well, even if Mel winds up not being good in this, I'll still know her for her improvement in the audios.)
Mel is a good companion to Six. In my opinion Mel's best story is The Ultimate Foe ( the first episode only and I think I said that before...) but they did a great job with her character in Terror. It's so sad (as a fan) to see Mel's character to become just a ordinary companion with no time to shine. What's good on her personality is that she is always happy and always trying to find a way to stay alive solve things.

Mel's the only companion I have yet to write a piece for for a fanzine article I'm writing, so I want to watch something with her and Seven so I can make comparisons (and have more material to work from).
