And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a vampire story in Doctor Who. I'm not knocking Vampires of Venice, really, except the weren't really vampires, and that was always the plan.
This story is exhibit #45657657786 of why Doctor Who is better with Gallifrey and it's mythology intact.
This is one of those Classic stories I love because I can picture myself summarizing it to someone who doesn't watch the show and saying "I'm not making this us. That's what ACTUALLY happens."
And yes, Gallifreyan mythology needs to come back in New Who because it does.
They were saying in the Making Of feature how vampires seem to have an intrinsic campyness to them and that these Who vampires were an excellent embodiment of that.
I feel like Adric was doing his job a little too well. I mean, Romana was PISSED. Also, according to the InfoText, there was some actual behind-the-scenes bad blood happening between Lalla Ward and Matthew Waterhouse during the filming of this story.
If if I remember right, what happened was that Lalla found Matthew arguing with the wardrobe person because he refused to take off his costume before going to the BBC canteen, so she took him aside and gave him a stern talking-to about his behavior.

King K-9! Sorry, him in a throne. Cool. Now he needs a crown.
Timelords fighting vampires? I like that story. The Doctor really liked talking to hermits as a child.
Totally knew Adric was bluffing. Sort of. Ok, I might I have believed the act for a second. *laughs*
I can't wait to see the last one.
