The Sensorites

"Perhaps we've landed on top of something."
"Yes, or inside something."
Finally, 6 months later, I get to find out how this scene ends.

"Well, we've ALL changed."
"Have I?"
"Yes!"
Is it just me, or are they actually Lampshading the whole concept of character development?

"Yes it all started out as a mild curiosity in a junkyard and now it's turned out to be quite a great spirit of adventure, don't you think?"

Truer words have never been spoken, Doctor. Well...you're THE DOCTOR, so you'd probably know whether truer words have been spoken or not.

Dead man isn't dead after all, and suddenly the soundtrack turns into a heartbeat.

"I learned not to meddle in other people's affairs years ago."
*snicker*
"Now now don't be absurd, there's not an ounce of curiosity in me."

So, how long is it going to take you to realize that that smell is something trying to BURN OFF THE LOCK ON THE TARDIS?

When exactly during all the rumbling and tumbling did One have time to put his specs on?

"I suppose she meant the water was through this door." Or it could be in the box clearly labeled "WATER" right next to it.

"Who are you? You look like my sister. Have you come to help me?" Wow. I almost want to hug this guy.

And Barbara did it for me. "Don't be afraid, we'll take care of you."

I must say, that was an EXCELLENT use of dramatic silence. And that must be a Sensorite at the window.

Yikes. Do the Sensorites just NOT have feet or something? Or just REALLY REALLY FLAT feet?

Sensorites brought to their knees by WOMANLY BRAIN POWER. *fistpump*

John's hair is turning white, and the Sensorites have white hair, which begs the question: is John being turned into one?

I'd read somewhere that the Ood were related to the Sensorites. Makes sense, they have remarkably similar voices.

It's not often you hear molybdenum referenced twice in two completely different contexts in the same day. First The Daily Show, now here.

Instead of trying to talk to the newly-arrived intelligent life-forms, Ian picks up a mallet. *sigh*

THANK you for seeing reason, Barbara.

"If they try to harm us, then I will fight them." We can has badass! One tiems?

This serial is reminding me how good William Hartnell is at srys-face!Doctor.

"I don't make threats, but I do keep promises! And I promise you, I shall cause you more trouble than you bargain for..."

"...if you DON'T RETURN MY PROPERTY." EPIC SRYS-FACE!DOCTOR.

"Next Episode: Hidden Danger." I know I've said this before, but doesn't that describe just about EVERY Doctor Who episode EVER?

"The light, the light! I'm afraid, afraid! Help us!"
"Put on the light, Chesterton."

"In all the years my granddaughter and I have been traveling, we've never had an argument." So, about your fight in the first episode...

So Susan's starting to become rebellious against the Doctor. I wonder if this was deliberate foreshadowing.

I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed by the humans vs. Sensorites thing going on here. The latter certainly seem more more antagonistic.

Actually, they BOTH seem to have good and bad issues with each other. It's kinda like the Silurians, but without weapons.

Oh, wait, never mind. They have Shooty Sense Things.

The disease doesn't affect the elders? Probably because of that crystal water they only drink. Calling it now.

Also, Ian coughing. Is he catching the disease too?

Apparently so. Strangely impressed with the fact that the next episode is titled "A Race Against Death."

Looks like I was right about the water. #ohcleverlittleme

*looks at camera* "Will they let me into my ship?" *DUN DUUUN!* (I almost wish I was making that music up)

"This is madness!" But is it Sparta? No. No I don't believe it is. #comeonhannahthatjokeisDEAD

Wait. I could've SWORN I just heard One say to Susan "but you're HUMAN!"

Also, I have to give Susan kudos in this story for having so much more insight than the Doctor.

Is tiem for SCIENCE NAO. Complete with Doctor with Brainy Specs and vials.

Yikes. The city administrator is a pretty epic douche. Then again, fear of the strange and different makes people do pretty douchey things.

Well, at least One believes John's "ravings" about being "surrounded by enemies." The Cuckoolander Was Right.

One discovers deadly nightshade growing on the pipes and *GRROOOOWRRR* ...that can't be good.

So how exactly does One go from "Keep away!" one second to lying-unconscious-with-his-jacket-torn-up the next?

And more importantly, is Ian just the designated master of Instant Recovery As The Plot Demands? He was DYING last episode...

"Our society is based upon trust. Treason or secret plotting is impossible." I think Every Single Utopia Story Ever has proved this wrong.

The Sensorites don't have eyelids, but they say "seeing all the time" is bad, but they're afraid of the dark...explain how this makes sense?

I just realized what a huge job the actors playing the Sensorites have. I mean, think about it...

Their faces don't move, so they have to convey EVERYTHING through body language and vocal inflection.

FINALLY the Second Elder gets to have a badass-payback moment against the city administrator. Let's see how long it lasts.

Less than a minute, then he gets killed. No surprise there. Well, at least he got to sabotage the laser first.

And now One gets an Awesome Black Cloak! This reminds me of the first Jeeves and Wooster slashfic I ever read...

OH WOW THEY JUST TURNED THE CLOAK INTO A PLOT DEVICE. This show really never does cease to amaze me.

I'm still waiting for the TARDIS crew to figure out that the administrator's been the bad guy the whole time.

Plot-Convenient Side-Effect of John being cured: he's forgotten all the important stuff about who's good and who's "evil." Ho boy...

Oh wait, he DOES sort-of remember...and right as the newly promoted administrator walks in the room...

AND NOW THEY HAVE FIGURED IT OUT! YAY! And thank you, Susan!

"I have never liked weapons of any type. However, they're handy little things."

So One and Ian have unknowingly ventured down into a dark aqueduct with faulty weapons and a false map. I sense impending bad things.

Hey! Barbara's back!

Well, good thing One and Ian found out about the sabotaged weapons and map before meeting a monster.

Susan gives us the show's very first description of Gallifrey (though not by name), orange sky and silver leaves...

Creepy Aqueduct Men With Pointy Sticks. OMG MOLE PEOPLE.

We've got less than 10 minutes left and now we've got yet another plot thread thrown at us, concerning the truth of the "aqueduct monsters."

So in the end, it all boiled down to power-hungry alien politicians and crazy people living underground. And Now We Know.

The last thing we hear is One threatening to throw Ian and Barbara out of the TARDIS. I wonder if he's serious or if that was a joke.

Everyone's expressions certainly seemed to imply it was serious, though...
