I just found this community about ten minutes ago, which made me so excited. I've been finding a lot of ST:reboot communities, which is great don't get me wrong, but I wanted to find a TOS one, too. I'm a huge fan of TOS, I'm a huge De Kelley, Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan fanboy. (: William Shatner too, but that goes without saying. Anyway, I figured I'd join with my first-ever drabble which was SO freaking hard to write, like, seriously, I don't know how anyone even DOES these things.
Suggestions? I'd like to keep practicing on them. Also, if I mess this code up, please giggle amongst yourselves. I'm still trying to figure them out.

Summary: my first ever drabble.
His hands shake and he feels like it's his first. He blinks. Once. Twice. Still there. Still dead. His brow flies up and is joined by the other, and he feels like a med student all over again, eyes wide and terrified.
“Doesn't it... bother you?” Jim once asked, when they were still both plenty young.
“Not really. You get used to it.”
“I don't know how you do it.”
He quietly stares at the body of the young Ensign and says, "I just do my job, Jim. Like this kid did his."
He steadies his hands and turns away.
