Quick Update and Torchwood Rant

Apr 07, 2010 09:35

Hi folks. Been a long time but I haven't forgotten you. Real life has been keeping me away from my shiny paid LJ account (thank you nikki4noo!) complete with the lovely Original Series Bones McCoy as my mood theme. And believe me Real Life has dealt me a big one this time. I am, forever more, officially disabled. Anyone who has been following me ( Read more... )

What's really sad is that I had no trouble believing it. I shudder to think what an American Torchwood would be like.

I hope you the best health possible. As someone who deals with a permanent and serious medical condition myself, I know how awful it can be. Good luck.

I'm not going to touch the American version with a ten foot pole. I never watch American remakes. Well, aside from Queer as Folk that is. And sometimes The Office. But apart from that, they've ruined everything else. Remember the mess that was their version of 'Life on Mars'? *shudders* The worst one recently is definitely their version of Australia's Kath & Kim. I'm not a fan of the original, but the American version was complete rubbish. They just don't get it.

I also wish you well. I come from a family riddled with serious medical conditions so I know mine is nothing compared to what others have. I hope yours will find you well again.

Honey! I have missed your rants! Oh and 9 days. 9 FRICKEN DAYS! WHEEEEEEE.

It might have been an April Fools but it was so close to the stupidity that is RTD I would not have been surprised at all that there would be some truth to it.

I am so sorry to here about your health. That sucks. Constant pain is just draining. Is there anything that can be done to give you some relief??

The part about the cousin is an April Fools joke. The part about Torchwood US isn't. However, the good news is that its been mighty quiet over at FOX and RTD land. He apparently pitched the idea but don't know if its gone any further than that.

And there will be no TW4 from Cardiff. They have their new production schedule out and TW is nowhere to be found.

Hang in there - I haven't seen new WHO yet, but everyone who has seems quite pleased with it.

I may be out of the game, but I'm still up with the news. No word about US Torchwood, and believe me I hope it stays that way. COE was the perfect ending and there doesn't need to be anything added to it aside from Jack's little bit in DW. So I'm totally 100% anti-Torchwood USA, and mainly because I don't trust them not to stuff it up!

I haven't seen it yet either, but we get it on iView on the 16th and on tv on the 18th, so I'm counting the days down.

I have some strong painkillers, but aside from that it's just not overdoing it.

Sorry about your back - sciatica is not fun in the least. :(

Congrats on the nephew! My sister is expecting #5 any day now - it will be her 4th boy.

I too will be staying well away from any US Torchwood. Apart from huge misgivings about a US remake, no matter who is at the helm - how the heck can that work when Torchwood was set up in protection of the British Empire? Hello? Last time I studied any history, the USA has not been a British colony since 1776 (I think that's around the correct time) and Queen Victoria was not on the throne then.

I'll be at Supernova on the Saturday, so I'm sure we're bound to run into each other. :)

Agreed about the British Empire thing. If it were Torchwood Australia or Torchwood Scotland it would make sense given they are still part of the Empire, but the US most definitely is not. It just doesn't make any sense.

I will definitely be at Supanova. Look for the VIP dressed as a female Jim Kirk. Nice yellow 60s miniskirt and all.
